Rootstalk
New American. $20-45 entrees. Cute place just down Wellington and Main St. The food is excellent. Their Aprés Menu from 4-6 is great. Last visit included $7 wine and cocktails, an awesome cheeseburger and a few filling dishes from their menu.
Hearthstone
New American with a focus on local Colorado fare. This restaurant is in a beautiful Victorian home and there are great views from the patios.
Radicato
Newest addition from the owners of Rootstalk. Italian served family style. Beautiful interior and the patio along the Blue River is gorgeous. Upstairs, enter through an unassuming door at the corner of Main & Washington, in Blue River Plaza
Aurum
New American. The secret here is their happy hour from 4 - 6 every day. Great starters and their cheeseburger is the best!
Briar Rose
Chop house/Steak house/Elk, etc. Another excellent happy hour in the bar and small patio. HH is 4 - 6 and all starters are ½ off.
La Francaise Bistrot
Tiny, authentic French bistro run by a lovely French couple. Reserve early. In summer their back patio is along the Blue River and they have great South of France inspired cocktails.
Blue River Bistro
New American. (Notice the trend?). Nice salads at lunch. Their family-style takeaway has been very good.
Mimo’s Fancy Tapas
Tiny new place on Main, call to reserve or through their Facebook page. Papas Bravas and Paella got my approval. Lots of fun dishes to share with a group, great wine list. HH daily 4-6 with reduced price tapas, $6 wine/sangria
Casual
The Canteen Tap House & Tavern
Solid comfort food, burgers, sandwiches, etc. Always a popular spot with a large deck out front. They are known for their specialty cocktails.
RMU
Very casual, beer garden in the back with some fire pits. Grilled cheese food truck. At night there can be a DJ or live music, young person/local scene.
Bangkok Happy Bowl Thai
Their Thai food is great. We’ve never had great luck with the service, but keep going back for food (have only done take-out). Now we just plan to wait longer than they say...
Tin Plate Artisan Pizzeria
Brand new Italian place with a sophisticated simple menu of a few salads and pizzas. Best pizza in town and had a fantastic cocktail. A table outside gives you a full view of the mountains.
La Francaise Bakery
Simple shop at the far south end of Main St with great baguettes and sandwiches. Good to take on a hike or when you are heading out of town.
Modi’s
Nice rooftop deck with a view of the mountains. Some creative cocktails. There is a happy hour every day from 3-6; a great time to catch the views.
Napper Tandy’s
“Pub that parties like a club”. Irish bar with a deck and mountain views. Often have live music, DJs, stand-up comedy at night. It’s a sports bar so plenty of TVs to watch a game.
Mountain Top Cookie Shop
Cookies!
Crepes a la Carte
Crepes of every kind. Always a line. There is a food truck on Main and the kitchen on Ridge.
Closed on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s
Eric’s Downstairs
Always busy Breck institution/dive. Tons of TVs to watch games, beers on tap, and lots of arcade games. This is a great spot for pre-teens/teens as you can buy arcade cards.
Fatty’s Pizzeria
Historic, local place with pizza, salads, etc and huge portions. Family-friendly and just down the road from the house off Wellington. Tons of TVs for sports and a cozy vibe.
Breckenridge Brewery
Microbrewery with a nice large patio out front. Have not eaten here.

Gear
Yes, there is also a SureFoot in town. But this is where I’ve gotten my custom boots made. It is very old school and I really like the locals who work there. I didn’t get a good fit the first time and they were super helpful trying to get it perfect; never felt rushed and spent hours there. Long time locally run. You need an appointment, especially during Covid precautions. They also do tuning and all that good stuff
These guys are great, they bring everything to you, fit your boots at the house and pick up when you are done. I know there are deals to be found but I haven’t noticed a dramatic price difference, with the exception that we always tip the staff with Black Tie. All of it is done online. They will come in the evenings so you’re ready to go the next morning.
Blue Lakes Trail
Great for most hikers. You can take the first trailhead and head left, wind your way up to the waterfall. There is another trailhead further up and to the right of the lake, also goes to the waterfall.
The Breckenridge Troll
A must for kids and really anyone. Isak is a short hike from south end of Main Street. You can also see the old train station.
Elevation Ski & Bike Rentals
Per friends: highest quality bikes and good prices.
Gondola
Usually in summer you can take your bike up the gondola and ride down. Check the website for reservation info
Gondola
Free and takes you to Peak 8. Open 9:30 am to 6 pm. If you hop on the purple bus at the corner of Royal Tiger & Wellington it will take you straight to the gondola. There is lots of parking at the gondola too, it’s $10/day. Street parking wherever you can find it is very cheap. Pay via the Passport parking app.
Colorado Adventure Tours
Recommended by guests for rafting and ziplining. Tales is recommended as a great rafting guide.
Summer Activity Passes - Peak 8
There are a ton of things to do at the base of Peak 8, including putt putt and alpine racing. You can buy your passes in advance - a slight discount online. Heads up: when it is busy you can wait an hour or so for each activity. Arrive in the morning. They stop selling passes after 4:30 when the lines are that long.
Good Times Adventures Dog Sledding:
We haven’t done dog sledding in winter (though friends have and loved it) but in the summer it’s really fun to visit. Staff will teach you everything about mushing and you meet and play with all the dogs!
Sage Outdoor Adventures
Recommended by a guest. ATV in Vail (a little beyond Vail, about 1hr 20 min drive from Royal Tiger). It’s on a 6000 acre ranch; awesome views plus cool technical driving spots (ie bumpy, spots with trees all around etc).
